ACT Writing Test
ACT Writing Test: The ACT writing test is a 30 minute test designed to measure the writing skills of the student. The student will define an issue and outline two opposing viewpoints on that issue. The student is then asked to choose one of the two viewpoints and defend it. The score for this portion of the test is not in any way dependent on the point of view taken.
The ACT Writing test measures the students ability to develop a strategy for their response, organize a good written argument, and present their point of view clearly. The ACT writing test question does not require any prior knowledge of the subject matter.
Many students benefit in their ACT Writing test scores as a result of practice. Few students are born great writers, and it takes some practice to develop the skill to create a good written argument. A few test runs help the student learn what is expected, and how to develop a writing strategy.
